Lauren Mendez, L.Ac., Dipl, O. M., NC
Lauren Mendez, L.Ac., Dipl, O.M., NC is an acupuncturist and herbalist licensed by the California State Acupuncture Board, nationally certified in Oriental Medicine, and is a certified Nutrition Consultant. Lauren has been drawn to natural medicine since she was young recognizing the profound disconnect between the health of society and with our food system that is far from natural, balanced or healthy. She studied holistic nutrition and has followed her passion for over a decade in helping others heal with whole food nutrition. Chinese medicine was the natural progression as she decided to grow into an integrative health care provider. Her practice incorporates acupuncture, Chinese herbal formulae and nutrition counseling. In addition, Lauren has studied Acupuncture Sports Medicine and Integrative Acupuncture Orthopedics, CranioSacral Therapy, Shiatsu and Tuina, and she is Level I certified in Dry Needling through Myopain Seminars. With a background in ballet and as an avid runner and hiker, Lauren loves human anatomy and offers an intuitive touch.
Lauren’s professional interests include treating chronic pain and orthopedic and sports related injuries with acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in addition to helping people uncover the root cause of their symptoms, get off of dieting trends and medications, and finally embrace a nurturing, positive relationship to food.
Lauren holds a Master’s of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University and earned her Nutrition Consultant certificate at Bauman College. Lauren earned her Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute. You can view Lauren’s oil paintings here. In addition to her core studies at Five Branches, Lauren has studied Channel Palpation with Dr. Wang Ju Yi in Beijing, China and participated as a student intern at ZheJiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hang Zhou, China. Lauren has also completed the Acupuncture Sports Medicine Apprenticeship program with Whitfield Reeves. This style of acupuncture treats common sports or overuse injuries applying acupuncture, trigger point needling and electrical stimulation using precision needling to restore tissue function.
