Acupuncture Orthopedics
Acupuncture Orthopedics is a musculoskeletal approach of acupuncture that specializes in treating sports injuries using myofascial and trigger point release techniques. As an acupuncturist I have found integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with Orthopedic Acupuncture to be an effective method for treating sports, overuse and orthopedic injuries. This style of acupuncture can help to relieve acute or chronic pain, enhance athletic performance and can help prevent injury while also treating the individual’s constitution. Various treatments and needling techniques are employed to help relieve muscle spasms, tendonitis, sprains or strains, muscle weakness and nerve pain. Trigger point and motor point needling techniques are used to relieve muscle spam, tension and pain and to restore muscle function. Cupping and guasha are used to break up adhesions and scar tissue. Moxibustion can help heal soft tissue injury.
